The Mom Project is proud to partner with Ameren in St. Louis, MO to launch their Bright Returns Program this fall. The program is designed for candidates who have taken a career pause of two or more years and who are ready to reengage in the workforce. As part of the program, you will join a cohort of others for a 6-month period with the potential to join the organization on a permanent basis upon successful completion.

About The Position
The Budget and Business Performance Specialist collaborates with cross-functional teams and manages company-wide operations such as analyzing capital and operating budgets while working directly with leadership, engineering and project management staff. This is an excellent, career building opportunity to join our dynamic Financial Services team that supports our Business & Corporate Services, Ameren Missouri and Transmission segments. You will act as a business partner with key internal customers, proactively identifying opportunities and risks, and gaining an unparalleled understanding of corporate operations that will set you apart for future opportunities in the Ameren organization.

Key responsibilities include:

• Prepare and submit the annual budget. Assist with performance assessments for all projects and research and resolve any significant variances between actual expenditures and budget. Review and update monthly forecast of expenditures and submit monthly accruals.
• Interact with Managers as well as other supervisory and engineering personnel and serve as liaison/financial advisor in business segments and shared services.
• Assist personnel with all budget and accounting related information as requested; such as TRIS, API and expense accounts.
• Provide statistical information regarding the current business performance of the operations for the division(s) or function. Analyze, evaluate and propose recommendations to improve the financial fitness of the area.
• Assist with special projects as assigned and prepare specialized reports and confidential documents.
• Establish and settle work orders (both reimbursable and regular), damage claims and non-revenue billings such as antenna installation and maintenance.
• Provide accounting for transactions dealing with but not limited to Capex, O&M and other revenue transactions.
• Analyze monthly variations in CapEx and O&M results and prepare written explanations for said variations on both the total and segmented levels.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field from an accredited college or university required. Master’s Degree or CPA/CMA/CFA preferred. Three or more years of relevant accounting experience (accounting, budget preparation, and statistical analysis) required without CPA certification. One or more years of relevant accounting experience (accounting, budget preparation, and statistical analysis) required with CPA certification.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Working knowledge of MS Office Suite with an advanced level of proficiency with Excel; Working knowledge of specific Ameren applications (e.g., UIP, Powerplan, EMPRV, General Ledger etc.); Must have good organizational, problem-solving, analytical, communication, and human relations’ skills; Demonstrated ability to monitor reports, solve problems and be decisive, proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work independently on multiple tasks requiring priority setting and deadlines; Must show initiative and attention to detail and work well in a team environment; and the following Ameren competencies: Think Customer, Inspire and Engage, Foster Innovation, Drive Results, Champion Learning, Build Trust, and Be Strategic.
