Job description

The Mom Project is proud to partner with Ameren in St. Louis, MO to launch their Bright Returns Program this fall. The program is designed for candidates who have taken a career pause of two or more years and who are ready to reengage in the workforce. As part of the program, you will join a cohort of others for a 6-month period with the potential to join the organization on a permanent basis upon successful completion.

Ameren Missouri's mission is to power the quality of life for its 1.2 million electric and 127,000 natural gas customers in central and eastern Missouri. The company's service area covers 64 counties and more than 500 communities including the greater St. Louis area.

All candidates must have a minimum of a two or more year pause in order to be considered for this position.

About The Position:

System Protection Engineer is responsible for designing protection and control systems; determining protective relay and surge protection requirements; and determining the specification of relay settings for energy centers, transmission, sub-transmission, and distribution systems.

Key responsibilities include:
*Analyze system outages for proper relay and breaker performance. Initiate investigation of questionable protective system performance.
*Design appropriate, cost-effective protection schemes, review schematic drawings, perform power system calculations, coordination studies, and perform other engineering studies as required. *Schedule and coordinate activities of purchasing, drafting, construction operating and related engineering groups associated with relay projects not requiring specific work orders; provide cost estimates; control costs.
*Provide consulting services to other groups in matters pertaining to system protective device coordination and application.
*Conduct special studies as required.

Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Option) from an accredited college or university is required.
*Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or active commitment to obtain it is required. Applicants with *Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) certification are preferred.
*Experience with symmetrical components and protection devices or related experience is preferred.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
*Proficiency in use of computers with strong academic background in power systems coursework is required.
*Must have excellent analytical, communication, and human relations skills, and be effective working in project-based team settings.
*Ability to handle multiple assignments/projects and prioritize is required.

$65.04 - $65.04/hour
