The Mom Project is proud to partner with Ameren in St. Louis, MO to launch their Bright Returns Program this fall. The program is designed for candidates who have taken a career pause of two or more years and who are ready to reengage in the workforce. As part of the program, you will join a cohort of others for a 6-month period with the potential to join the organization on a permanent basis upon successful completion.

About The Position The Civil Engineer performs civil design in support of projects, engineering studies, engineering design calculations, and project management activities for the maintenance and renovation of existing or construction of new transmission substations and facilities.

Key responsibilities include:
*Develop engineering solutions, cost and schedule estimates and preliminary designs associated with initial development and budgeting of projects. Perform detailed civil and/or structural design and work with the Drafting Group to complete drawings.
*Prepare specifications for site development design, which includes grading of 3 acre – 10 acre substation pads. Drainage design, which includes stormwater detention modeling, storm sewer & underdrain systems, and pipe culvert analysis. Access road design, which includes layout of 100 foot – ½ mile long roadways. Foundation design of concrete drilled piers and spread footings.
*Experience in the following commercial software applications is preferred: Microstation, GEOPAK, AutoCAD Civil 3D, AutoTurn, Bentley Civil Storm, CulvertMaster, FlowMaster, LPILE.
*Develop construction specifications and complete bid documents, direct drawing preparation and assist in providing cost estimates.
*Assist or lead in the planning and oversight/management of projects.
*Coordinate design activities with other departments and outside companies such as: real estate, drafting, other engineering groups, environmental services, construction crews, contractors, surveying and consulting firms.
*Facilitate acquiring permits to perform construction activities.
*Perform site visits during design and construction activities to ensure quality control.
*Present projects in public information workshops and to government and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications:
*Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university required.
*Applicant must have taken and passed (or awaiting results from) the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
*Professional Engineer (P.E.) License or commitment to actively pursue one in Illinois and/or Missouri required.
*Two or more years of experience in civil engineering is preferred. New graduates will be considered

$44.72 - $44.72/hour
