Design Technology Returnship

Design technology lives at the intersection of technology-driven innovation and human-centric design. Design technologists inspire organizations to build customer-facing experiences that push the envelope of front-end engineering with new, improved technologies that unlock better experiences. This can include leveraging external frameworks like React, Lottie or unlock internal prototyping and processes like Pyro or Kojin. Design technology should always be looking to unlock beautiful experiences and speed through creating self-service tools and design framework like Figma, Invision, etc. so that all designers can work with increased speed and capability. Design technologists are generally also responsible for the "ownable moments" and "hero experiences" that bring in increased design capabilities to delight customers and drive "soul" and engagement. This is done through motion, sounds, haptics etc. that enrich experiences, starting with these select moments of delight. They are actively engaged in the entire product lifecycle from helping accelerate strategy through technical proofs-of-concept, to ideal state prototypes, to partnerships with engineering ensuring that design intent reaches customers. They help solve problems at scale by building bespoke design tools and frameworks. They have deep and enduring partnerships with engineering, data science, and research.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in design technology, UX engineering, web development, or related field

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.

  • Mastery of front-end web technologies including HTML, CSS, and ReactJS. Experience with Firebase or other backend frameworks is a plus.

  • Proven track record in pushing the boundaries of user interface design through experimentation, developing new tools and processes, and partnering with design, engineering, data science, and research teams.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, project management, and organizational skills.
