Job description

Why you?

You bring your life experience into your work, and you’re passionate about creating products that truly make a difference in the lives of working parents. You use data to inform your strategies, but you also know when you have enough information for action. You are looking for something more from your job--maybe a bigger problem to solve with both immediate and long term impact, or perhaps you just need a mission you can believe in every day. You are looking to join an inclusive and supportive culture with a bias for action. You love big, interesting problems and bringing solutions to the masses while making sure it feels personal, authentic, and connected. If this sounds like you, let’s talk.

Why us?

The Mom Project is a pioneering, remote-first venture-backed startup with roots in Chicago and Cincinnati. We are backed by some of the best investors in the world and are lucky to be surrounded by an incredible team of advisors, including Serena Williams. The Mom Project is a platform and community leading a movement that matches companies with diverse talent. This critical match and inclusive approach drives businesses forward while expanding professional opportunities for women. Our team is growing as we push to rewrite the narrative for working women at every stage of life. We believe moms, dads, and allies should be able to choose both a successful family life AND career aspirations without sacrificing one over the other. Our commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion across race, gender, age, religion, identity, and experience drives us and our mission forward every day. We strive toward inclusion, and that means everyone is comfortable bringing their authentic and best self to work every day.

ABOUT THE JOB

The Mom Project’s Creative Director is a brand leader who can motivate, inspire, and teach our team how to bring our best stories to life for both our talent (B2C) and our business partners (B2B). You have the experience to help forge our brand architecture, to evolve our visual aesthetics, and to set the direction now and in the future for thoughtful expressions of The Mom Project brand. You have a portfolio of work showcasing design that inspires strong consumer engagement and interaction. You’re able to work across several design subject areas, such as graphics, digital, and experiential, and you’re a strong collaborator, able to partner closely with cross-functional teams to develop and frame concepts that you’ll help translate into visually exciting and emotionally engaging designs that appear in both physical and virtual contexts.

TMP’s Creative Director works across multiple projects, ensuring the creative team partners closely with the brand, growth, product, sales, and executive teams. We are looking for someone who shares our drive and passion to deliver rich, emotionally compelling experiences for our current community, and to inspire even more to join us. Reporting directly to the CMO, you’ll be a key caretaker of our brand expression and a crucial member of TMP’s marketing leadership team.

Among the Creative Director’s main tasks:

● Evolve and deploy the strategic vision for the brand’s architecture and key visual elements and systems

● Visualize and articulate key brand design direction to team members

● Build consensus cross-departmentally and at the executive level through crisp presentations, one-sheets, and your natural charm

● Build, lead, and manage in-house and external teams in design, creative strategy, execution and production, and brand strategy in concert with the brand marketing team lead

● Ensure all of The Mom Project’s outward-facing collateral breaks through the clutter and connects with our customers

ABOUT YOU

● You have at least 15 years of relevant experience, ten of which were spent in a managerial capacity overseeing teams of mixed disciplines (design, copy, production)

● The ideal candidate for this high-level position has deep experience focusing on two main disciplines: strategic brand building and design

● You can articulate to others, and demonstrate via your own work, the sweet spot between innovating, taking risks, and provoking to keep the brand's uber-progressive edge sharp...while still working from the brand foundations that continue to serve us well

●You will report to the CMO, working closely with the executive, marketing, and product teams to shepherd the brand experience as it is developed across all groups

●You will inspire a team of design and content creatives who love the TMP brand and demonstrate the unbridled creative expression that we value

● You have a mastery of working in a cross-functional environment in collaboration with product leads and various business unit leads

● You can speak in detail of design solutions with clients and internal teams

● Background in graphic design a plus

● Demonstrated leadership ability and familiarity with the role – having previously held a Creative Director or similar role

● Excellent global understanding of end users, consumers, and the job market

● Exceptional ability to connect with peers, teams, executive leadership, and clients through strong relationships, presentation and natural charisma.
