We are seeking a Graphic Designer on a contract basis to help support our Customer’s business needs. This role is onsite at our Customer's Burlingame, CA, Seattle, WA, or New York, NY office.

The main function of a Graphic Designer is to create designs, concepts and sample layouts based on design principles and concepts. A typical graphic designer needs to have a high level of creativity and able to communicate their ideas to both internal and external clients. The ability to be flexible to client demands, work well under pressure and multi-task are required skills.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Instruct and lead other designers in the planning, analyzing and creation of visual solutions to communication problems.
  • Approve and review overall layout and production design of publications or web interfaces as they relate to graphic design, and suggest improvements as needed.
  • Review prepared sketches or layouts of other designers to present to client.
  • Review and approve charts and graphs created by other designers from data given.
  • Conducting research on existing typefaces to identify gaps in the market and opportunities for innovation.
  • Sketching and drawing initial concepts for new typefaces or fonts.
  • Using software tools like FontLab, Glyphs, or RoboFont to create and refine digital prototypes of the typeface.
  • Testing and proofing the typeface to ensure it meets quality standards and functions well across different contexts and applications.
  • Collaborating with other designers, clients, or type foundries to incorporate feedback and address any issues that arise during the design process.
  • Developing comprehensive type specimens and documentation to showcase the typeface and its intended use.
  • Continuously staying up-to-date with typography trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practices.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in Type design (ability to make type fonts from scratch)
  • Experience with Figma, Illustrator, FontLab, RoboFont, and Glyphs
  • Creativity, verbal and written communication skills and problem solving ability are required.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
  • Strong ability to utilize various forms of media, including print, electronic and film.
  • Strong ability to visualize in 2D and 3D and understand aesthetic aspects of design.
  • Previous experience using the computer to create layouts and generate new images.
  • Experience with Adobe publishing and graphics software a plus.
  • AR/VR experience is a plus
