Job description
Our Customer is a corporation that develops, manufactures, and markets robotic products designed to improve clinical outcomes of patients through minimally invasive surgery. Founded in 1995, their goal was to create innovative, robotic-assisted systems that help empower doctors and hospitals to make surgery less invasive than an open approach. Working with the top medical professionals, they continue to develop new, minimally invasive surgical platforms and future diagnostic tools to help solve complex healthcare challenges around the world.
We are seeking a Senior UI Designer on a contract basis to support our Customer's business needs. The ideal candidate is responsible for working with the design and engineering teams to define a consistent and high-quality user experience across our client's product lines. Their primary focus is to ensure that new products are highly usable by defining a clear, design system-based visual language for graphical user interfaces.
What you’ll do:
- Closely collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement user interfaces that enhance caregiver capabilities through unprecedented simplicity, utility, and ease of use
- Define and execute design system patterns employing typography, color, grid systems, iconography, and motion to deliver world-class user interfaces
- Propose clear and compelling designs with sound rationale addressing identified problems and opportunities
- Collaborate with Human Factors, Clinical, and Engineering teams to ensure your designs are safe, effective, and feasible
- Participate in user research and usability testing Surgical products
- Create, document, and manage files and assets used to present and communicate design intent to engineering teams and stakeholders
Must Haves:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in product design (in-house, agency, or freelance)
- Expertise in using interface design tools like Figma to build design systems and component libraries
- Expertise in prototyping tools like Protopie and Principle
Nice to Haves:
- Knowledge of front-end development languages
- Motion design
- 3D modeling, rendering, and animation
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Product Design related field
Hours & Location:
- M-F, 40 hours/week. This role will be remote while COVID restrictions are in place. The expectation is to be onsite at our Customer’s Santa Clara, CA location once it is deemed safe to do so.
