Job description

The Mom Project is excited to partner with RS in their search for a Technical Content Specialist - Videographer. This role is a hybrid setup with 3-4 days remote and 1-2 days onsite at RS' Dallas, or Fort Worth, TX office. As the candidate ramps up in the role, the schedule will become very flexible.

Technical Expert Services (TES) is a key pillar of our Value Added Services (VAS) portfolio. RS’s offer in the Americas includes over 4 million products across 600+ brands. TES’ objective is to help our customers with the selection and application of these products while creating measurable value for the company. Customers include industrial manufacturing plants, machine builders, and system integrators.

Technical Expert Services provides 4 levels of support to our customers. Our Level 1 and 2 teams help customers with basic product selection and information. The Level 3 team consults with customers about their automation applications. Level 4 includes paid design services where we help a customer with their project. The Level 3 and 4 teams focus on Automation and Control products and are based in the Technical Solution Center (TSC) at our Ft Worth, Texas facility. The TSC contains multiple video studios which are used to host customer consultations and create content. The content includes: a) Product videos and webinars for our suppliers b) Self-help videos to assist Level 1 and 2 c) Training courses for our suppliers, customers, or internal teams.

The Technical Content Specialist supports all four levels of TES. Their primary responsibility is to manage the content creation process from end to end. This includes developing the content calendar, managing each project, script supervision, production setup, editing, and managing budgets. The Specialist will collaborate with the TES team, marketing, supplier management staff, and the suppliers directly.

Someone in this role is a self-starter that is confident in their skills and abilities. Successful candidates know the value they bring to an organization and are ready to see how their knowledge and experience can benefit our customers.

Responsibilities:

Manage Content Creation Projects

  • Collaborate with TES staff, supplier management, marketing, and suppliers to define the project requirements
  • Project manage the end-to-end process including project definition, storyboarding, script writing, shot planning, production setup, filming, editing, and final production
  • Manage content calendar, multiple project schedules, and project budgets

Participate in Content Projects

  • Actively contribute to each project step
  • Assist with scripts, shot planning, production setup, lighting, and filming
  • The specialist may occasionally be the presenter on-camera
  • Serve as the principal editor for video and audio

Demonstrate Technical Expertise

  • Help our customers see us as an amazing source of technical information and support
  • Maintains video content catalog
  • Be a champion for the growth of Value Added Solutions

VAS Offer Development and Support

  • Assist with process development, offer expansion, and value creation
  • Collaborate with other regional/global business units on technical content creation projects

Delivering Operational KPI Results

  • Ensure accurate reporting of project metrics
  • Work with marketing to define the promotional plan for each piece of content
  • Collaborate with analysts on measuring the impact of each piece of content

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Film, Videography, Communications, Marketing, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in a content creation role including video production and editing
  • Experience in all aspects of video creation including project definition, storyboarding, script writing, shot planning, production setup, filming, editing, and final production
  • Ability to create quality multimedia stories using photography, videography, graphics, text, and sound that accurately informs and engage our audience
  • Experience in project management, and ability to coordinate multiple simultaneous projects with various timelines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task across different projects
  • Detail-oriented and capable of producing a highly polished final product
  • Experience with screen recordings (Camtasia, OBS, Screenflow, etc)
  • Experience with video/audio editing (Premier Pro, Davinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Audacity, Avid, etc)
  • Experience with graphic design and editing (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Affinity Designer, etc)
  • Knowledgeable on how to improve lighting, color, and audio in post-production
  • Ability to operate video cameras, mics, audio equipment, and teleprompters
  • Familiar with how to properly light and film a green screen, and how to key it out in post-production
  • Ability to edit and create long-form video content utilizing stock and owned footage, graphics, text, etc
  • Knowledge in multi-channel marketing including social, web, email, etc
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication
  • Demonstrate creative thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Good presentation skills, including the use of visual media
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with motion graphics tools (After Effects, etc)
  • Experience with industrial automation and control products or industrial manufacturing
  • Possess mechanical and electrical aptitude and understand how electro-mechanical devices work
  • Good photography skills
  • Good script-writing skills
  • Good on-camera presence
