Job description

We are seeking an innovative and highly motivated Content Developer/Instructional Designer on a contract basis to help support our customer’s business needs. The role requires a candidate who has excellent writing and instructional design skills, as well as a passion for content creation. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable creating both digital and traditional training content and will possess a sharp eye for quality along with strong attention to detail.
What you’ll do:
- Design and deliver programs to train all levels of personnel.
- Develop tests and visual aids.
- Conduct training classes and develop criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities.
- Keep abreast of training and development research: learning theory, motivation theory, and new materials, methods, and techniques.
- Develop in-house programs and practices to identify developmental needs, including preparing personnel for more responsible positions and increasing effectiveness in present assignments.
- May evaluate and/or oversee contractors or vendors develop and/or administer training programs.
- May be responsible for the development of e-learning programs.
- Support a variety of training programs, including product knowledge, service, onboarding, store leadership, and store operations for Firstline employees and leaders throughout North America.
- Research, curate, design, and write training content, design activities, and resources, and work as a thought partner with the extended training team.
- Play a role in promoting new content to appropriate audiences and stakeholders.
- Help manage existing content, making timely updates and archiving what’s no longer needed.
Must have:
- 3-5 years of professional experience in training content creation, instructional design, or curriculum development.
- Additional 2 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- Experience working in a retail store.
- Knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models.
- Experience using digital content management systems and project management tools.
- Experience with digital/mobile learning tools is a plus.
- Proficiency with Keynote and Microsoft Office products.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated a history of building relationships and creating consensus across various leadership levels.
- Attention to detail, along with strong grammar and copyediting skills, plus the ability to multitask and a desire to excel in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with deadlines and the ability to organize and prioritize projects to make sure concurrent projects are finished on time.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Adult Learning, Instructional Design, English, Writing, Communications, or a related field
Hours & Location:
- M-F, 40 hours/week. This role will be a hybrid setup with 2 days remote and 3 days onsite at our Customer’s Beaverton, OR location.
