Our Customer is a corporation that develops, manufactures, and markets robotic products designed to improve clinical outcomes of patients through minimally invasive surgery. Founded in 1995, their goal was to create innovative, robotic-assisted systems that help empower doctors and hospitals to make surgery less invasive than an open approach. Working with the top medical professionals, they continue to develop new, minimally invasive surgical platforms and future diagnostic tools to help solve complex healthcare challenges around the world.
We are seeking a Clinical Annotation Specialist on a contract basis to support our Customer's business needs. This role contributes broadly to the Advanced Product Development team which is responsible for advanced analytics and new technology development focused on the advancement of data and digital technology for next-generation robotic surgery platforms. This contribution is mainly in the form of providing ground truth annotation of surgical data.

What you’ll do:
- Annotation of surgical videos which entails documentation of ground truth and labeling of critical events in the surgical procedure (80% of the time)
- Use custom software to label elements in medical images and videos to support state-of-the-art computer vision efforts.
- Participate in training (learning and teaching) for surgical procedures in order to understand techniques and workflow.
- Side Projects that incorporate collaboration with technical teams to support sprints and project-related goals, contribute to the clinical context, generate data for machine learning model development, and support clinical research (20% of the time)

- Assist in optimization of Agile annotation assignments and workflows.
Must-Haves:
- Basic understanding of human anatomy
- Strong interest and ability to learn about surgical workflows and anatomy across many surgical specialties
- Interest in learning and the ability to effectively advocate for their own learning needs
- Aptitude for troubleshooting and problem-solving
- Experience communicating with surgeons and/or staff is desired
- Excellent attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication
- Effective collaborator and act in the interest of the team
- Good judgment in the characterization of work challenges and when to raise concerns – experience with JIRA/ Bug reporting
- Ability to manage time effectively across multiple projects with differing priorities
- Discipline and ability to work effectively from home and coordinate with team members across time zones
- Ability to work remotely including a full day of sitting at a desk learning independently or with a group, watching and annotating surgical videos, and meeting over zoom
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Professional Writing, English, Biology/Medicine/Engineering Sciences, or equivalent preferred
Hours & Location:
- M-F, 40 hours/week. This role will be 100% Remote.
