The Mom Project is excited to partner with Etsy in their search for a Marketing and Consumer Communication Manager.

About the Job

Etsy is looking for someone to temporarily join Etsy’s growing Communications team to help them build brand awareness through the development of consumer-focused narratives. This role will be responsible for leading the consumer communications strategies for key global campaigns and will focus on raising brand awareness of Etsy’s narrative and products to buyer-facing audiences in the US and around the world. This person will work closely with the rest of the global team and partner with senior leaders across the organization to uncover opportunities to tell new stories and amplify our current efforts.

This is a full-time position for a 6-month contract reporting to the Senior Director of Global Consumer Communications. For this role, Etsy is considering candidates based in the New York City area only and can commute to the Brooklyn office weekly.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead global communications strategy for consumer-focused campaigns, while driving awareness for Etsy’s key brand narratives and initiatives
  • Partner with external PR agency on campaign execution to create and maintain a steady drumbeat of press coverage in the US
  • Proactively seek data-driven and storytelling opportunities that support Etsy’s trends
  • Build and execute on compelling story angles that will resonate with both US and global media across a variety of categories and disciplines
  • Work cross-functionally with partner teams and leaders across Etsy to create press opportunities that ladder back to priority campaigns
  • Develop strategic messaging and materials both for specific announcements and for use on an ongoing basis
  • Secure and execute media opportunities for consumer-focused spokesperson, including messaging development, segment production, prop sourcing, and more
  • Share and amplify media coverage with internal audiences
  • Proactively seek out high-impact opportunities that tie back to Etsy’s goals and mission
  • Reactively place positive stories for Etsy related to viral and pop culture moments
  • Source and vet Etsy sellers and products for media outreach
  • Support the planning and execution of Etsy’s annual holiday press event in New York City


You will be successful in this role if you:

  • Have 6+ years of communications experience
  • Have strong media relationships across consumer/lifestyle publications
  • Have experience managing PR agencies
  • Are extremely detail oriented and like to multitask
  • Have a passion for storytelling
  • Have experience planning and managing logistics for events and presentations
  • Are comfortable acting as a liaison between the communications team and partners across Etsy
  • Like to think outside the box when it comes to thinking of new communications channels and approaches

What does the day-to-day look like?

  • Develop strategic comms plans that drive back to key company narratives
  • Work closely with the global comms team to maximize impact of campaigns
  • Meet regularly with key internal partners to collaborate on campaigns, trends, and more
  • Source and vet sellers and products for media outreach
  • Plan and execute Etsy’s annual holiday press event in New York
  • Report on key campaign performance and metrics
