We are seeking a Freelance Copywriter on a contract basis to support our Marketing department’s in-house Creative Services team as a freelance copywriter. Working remotely, this writer will support the business and marketing needs of the Company's Online Website & Blended Learning organization and the Connections Academy brand. Working in conjunction with the teams’ lead copywriter, lead designer, project manager, and digital content strategist, this person will write and edit copy for marketing materials supporting Connections Academy schools, internal organization communications, and emerging B2B partnerships. In this role, you will be writing and editing copy for email, digital ads, direct mail, marketing video scripts, collateral/marketing communications, website, and landing pages, SEO, thought leadership, Resource Hub articles, social media, and more. The ideal candidate will have a background in marketing, creative writing, or agency copywriting experience with the ability to quickly write effective copy that informs, engages, and motivates the reader to deliver on campaign goals. This role is 100% Remote.

What You'll Do:

  • Writing the following types of copy to most effectively communicate our brand messaging, positioning, and call to action to our prospects and current customers
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to write digital content for varying formats and audiences, adhering to best practices and standards of the individual marketing channels
  • Website copy Lead-driving landing page content
  • Optimizing content for SEO Interactive infographics
  • Resource Hub (blog) articles and thought leadership
  • Organic social media post copy and occasionally paid search and social executions
  • Demonstrate excellent ability to adapt the brand’s voice and tone to deliver on messaging goals throughout the funnel in external family communications, including but not limited to the following formats: Email campaign messaging, Information session presentation, video scripts, brochures, flyers, posters
  • Versioning school-specific information for direct mail postcards and other mailers
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of how to communicate with internal teams and existing customers to maintain and improve customer experience by Drafting and editing internal communications
  • Drafting and editing customer-facing copy used by the customer support team, including call scripts, email templates, etc.
  • Drafting and editing customer-facing enrollment system messaging
  • Other duties as needed
  • Proofread copy and design
  • Ensure compliance with Company brand standards and style guide
  • Enforce and maintain brand standards and style guides
  • Project Management - Ability to self-manage deadlines and be communicative regarding workload and expectation-setting

Must Haves:

  • 3-5 years of experience writing and editing marketing copy
  • Excellent and proven advertising or marketing copywriting skills – the ability to develop compelling copy to inform and motivate people to act
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects based on business-critical needs
  • Understanding of current and future digital trends across platforms
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, including knowledge and adaptability of various editorial style guides and tones
  • Knowledge of optimizing writing for SEO/SEM preferred, especially SEO to drive clicks and conversions
  • Experience writing compelling, polished long- and short-form content
  • Writing for the web that is persuasive, leveraging catchy headlines, linking strategy, and CTAs
  • Ability to collaborate with team members yet work independently and on deadline
  • Ability to accurately communicate turnaround times for new projects and proactively communicate the status of existing projects
  • Ability to consult with internal constituents and draw information from others; produce written materials as required with permissions & legalities
  • Understanding of copywriting best practices in specialized areas such as website, email, SEO/keywords, landing page conversion
  • High level of proficiency in MS Office products (PowerPoint, Word)
  • Attention to detail plus editing and proofreading ability
  • Juggle numerous projects and meet aggressive schedules Self-motivated to be creative, innovative, and strategic

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in English, Journalism, or Marketing

Hours & Location

  • M-F, 40 hours/week. This role is 100% remote.
