We are seeking a Unity/Unreal Engine Generalist on a contract basis to help support our customer’s business needs. The ideal candidate will help explore what tomorrow's AR/VR experiences will look like. You will collaborate with a very small team of technical artists using state-of-the-art tools to explore various new directions and applications for our team of Research Scientists and software engineers using new software and hardware.
What You’ll Do:
- Brainstorm and create new interactive 3D experiences, with high-end characters, creatures, props and environments in both Unity and Unreal Engine.
- Troubleshoot complex AR/VR systems, body tracking equipment, and complex Linux/Windows computer systems.
- Design, build and test advanced animation setups, and user UIs in these environments.
- Build ‘experiences’ (pared down interactive ‘scenarios’ - not games) to evaluate the strengths/weaknesses of new software/hardware/approaches.
- Assist with demo/testing of the experiences we create.
Must-Haves:
- 3+ years of recent professional experience using Unity and/or Unreal to create a high - end character-centric visuals.
- Intermediate knowledge of Linux and Windows OS.
- Demonstrated knowledge of most recent game engine functionality/advances.
- Extensive experience with professional production processes.
- Must be willing to take direction, yet also multitask and self-prioritize to help various teams meet goals in this quick-moving environment.
- Solid knowledge of Maya and/or Blender as it pertains to character rigging and deformation.
- Previous experience in the creation of VR & AR experiences.
- Strong math background is a plus.
- Strong grasp of basic animation principles, kinematics & physics.
- Experience with real-time body tracking.
- Experience working in small teams where functional knowledge of every step of the process is more valued than a specialist.
- Your knowledge of how making things function is valued over your asset creation prowess.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Visualization, or Computer Animation.
Hours & Location:
- M-F 40 hours a week. The expectation is to be on-site at our Sausalito, CA location.
