Job description

Our Customer is an American financial services mutual organization based in Milwaukee. The financial security company provides consultation on wealth and asset income protection, education planning, retirement planning, investment advisory services, financial planning trust and private client services, estate planning and business planning. Its products include life insurance, permanent life insurance, disability income, and long-term care insurance; annuities; investments; and investment advisory products and services.


Our customer is looking for an Accountant on a contract basis to help support their business needs. This role 100% remote.



Responsibilities:

  • Perform transactional accounting for field offices, including accounts payable and commission processing
  • Process vouchers and journal entries within accounting systems
  • Support monthly close activities, including reconciliations and reporting
  • Assist with payroll and 1099 processing
  • Maintain relationships with assigned field offices and provide accounting support
  • Support the training of new contractors on accounting processes
  • Manage office-specific accounting projects and requests
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions and reporting
  • Communicate regularly with field offices to address inquiries and provide updates


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, including journal entries (debits and credits)
  • Experience with transactional accounting processes such as AP and reconciliations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data manipulation and accuracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook for communication and scheduling
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills in a dynamic environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with professional grammar
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with commission processing
