Job description

Title: Accounting Controller
Status: 20-30 hrs/wk, may flex up or down based on business needs. PT, W2
Location: 100% Remote
Salary Range: $39,000 - $79,000 per year, commensurate with experience
Ideal Background: You come from small to mid-sized CPA firm(s) and have worked with small business owners, including non-profits

Our client is a mom-lead & founded CFO consulting and bookkeeping firm looking for a seasoned CPA with experience in general business consulting, working with SMBs. This Accounting Controller role is 100% remote and newly created.

**Key Responsibilities:**

1. **Accounting Services:**

- Prepare and maintain financial records, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements

- Reconcile bank statements and accounts payable/receivable.

- Manage payroll processing and related tax filings.

- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.

- Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements and tax returns.

2. **Financial Analysis:**

- Analyze financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.

- Develop financial models and forecasts to support business decision-making.

- Provide valuable insights and recommendations to clients for financial optimization.

3. **Consulting Services:**

- Collaborate with clients to understand their business goals and challenges.

- Conduct business assessments and recommend strategies for growth and efficiency.

- Offer guidance on cost reduction, budgeting, and financial planning.

- Assist with the implementation of recommended strategies and initiatives.

4. **Business Process Design and Implementation:**

- Assess current business processes and identify opportunities for improvement.

- Design and document streamlined and efficient business processes.

- Collaborate with clients to implement process changes and monitor their effectiveness.

5. **Client Relationship Management:**

- Build strong and trusting relationships with clients.

- Serve as a trusted advisor, providing exceptional customer service.

- Communicate financial information, business process changes, and insights effectively to clients.

6. **Continual Learning:**

- Stay updated on industry trends, accounting standards, and regulatory changes.

- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills.

**Qualifications:**

- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (CPA certification preferred).

- Proven experience in accounting, financial analysis, consulting, and business process improvement, preferably in a small to midsize business context.

- Strong understanding of accounting principles, tax regulations, and business process optimization.

- Proficiency in accounting software and financial modeling tools.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.

- Ability to work independently and manage multiple client engagements.

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
