We are seeking an Accounting Coordinator on a contract basis to support our Customer's business needs. This role is hybrid (3 days onsite and 2 days remote/week) in Newport News, VA.


This role is responsible for managing lease payables, ensuring compliance with lease agreements, maintaining accurate records, and providing high-quality support in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives under pressure, can process information with minimal guidance, and demonstrates strong analytical and communication skills.


Normal work hours are 7:30 am to 4 pm, but hours can be flexible (8 hours/day).


Responsibilities:

  • Monitor shared inboxes, manage workflows, and distribute physical mail efficiently.
  • Process lease-related expenses, including utilities, building repairs, insurance, and real estate taxes.
  • Ensure all expenses comply with lease terms and company policies.
  • Communicate with landlords and internal teams to resolve discrepancies or gather necessary information.
  • Maintain accurate records through precise data entry and basic financial calculations.
  • Draft professional correspondence and maintain documentation with attention to detail.
  • Use Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for reconciliations, reporting, and data analysis.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and handle high-volume workloads.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in accounts payable (real estate accounting experience preferred but not required).
  • Strong analytical skills; experience with reconciliations in Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong follow-up.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Proven track record of dependability, professionalism, and teamwork.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Oracle or Lucernex.
