Job description

Our Customer is an endoscope manufacturer, offering systems for human and veterinary medicine as well as for industrial applications. They are headquartered in El Segundo, California.


Our Customer is seeking a Legal Operations Manager on a contract basis to help support their business needs. This role is hybrid (3 days on-site and 2 days remote/week) in El Segundo, CA.


This role leads and supports month-end and year-end close activities, financial analysis and reporting, and the ongoing transformation of accounting processes. In addition to routine duties, the Accounting Manager participates in projects aimed at transforming and improving shared service processes within the internal controls framework. The position also assists business operations in streamlining end-to-end processes, eliminating inefficiencies, and ensuring compliance with robust internal controls and standards.



Responsibilities:

  • Lead the month-end close process, including preparation and review of journal entries and coordination of team assignments
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial results prior to leadership review
  • Prepare and review complex accounting analyses, including accruals, reserves, revenue, cost allocations, and fixed assets
  • Serve as the first level of quality control for accounting deliverables before escalation to senior leadership
  • Prepare account reconciliations, investigate and resolve variances, and reconcile items
  • Review journal entries and reconciliations prepared by staff and provide feedback and technical guidance
  • Prepare financial analyses and management commentary
  • Identify and implement accounting process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls
  • Provide guidance to ensure compliance with accounting standards, including US GAAP
  • Lead accounting projects, including planning, execution, stakeholder coordination, and follow-up activities
  • Develop, document, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for accounting processes
  • Create training materials and onboarding documentation for accounting staff
  • Support SAP S/4HANA upgrade activities, including testing support
  • Lead revenue recognition initiatives and reporting accuracy efforts
  • Maintain productive working relationships and collaborate effectively across teams
  • Support additional accounting and operational responsibilities as assigned


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • Master’s degree in Accounting desired
  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • 2+ years of public accounting experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience with month-end close processes, journal entries, and account reconciliations
  • Experience reviewing journal entries and accounting work products
  • Strong experience with Sales/Revenue, COGS, and Inventory accounting
  • Experience in operations accounting environments; not a corporate accounting background
  • Experience with revenue recognition and financial reporting
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Basic to advanced accounting-related Excel skills
  • Proven experience leading and implementing process improvement initiatives
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines and demonstrate ownership of responsibilities
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with employees, management, and external auditors
  • Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and accounting projects simultaneously
  • SAP experience preferred, ideally SAP S/4HANA
