Accounting Manager (Remote - EST Hours)

The Mom Project is excited to support Etsy with their search for an Accounting Manager to join their team on a contract basis.

About the Role

The Accounting team is seeking a full-time embedded contractor (IC4 level) to provide coverage during two consecutive parental leaves within the team. This role will be critical in ensuring continuity of our month-end and quarter-end close processes while maintaining the quality and timeliness of key financial reporting deliverables.

The contractor's primary focus will be compensation-related accounting, with responsibilities including:

• Executing month-end and quarter-end close activities for assigned compensation-related accounts
• Preparing and reviewing account reconciliations
• Performing fluctuation and variance analyses
• Preparing management explanations for quarterly changes in account balances
• Supporting the preparation of journal entries and ensuring accounting is completed in accordance with company policies and U.S. GAAP
• Partnering cross-functionally with Payroll, HR, Equity Administration, FP&A, and other Finance teams to resolve accounting questions and gather supporting information

Depending on business needs and the contractor's experience, the individual may also provide support across other areas of Corporate Accounting, including:

• SEC reporting support and financial statement disclosures
• Consolidations
• Operating expense (OpEx) accounting
• Other ad hoc accounting and close-related projects

Desired Qualifications

• CPA license
• Workday experience
• IC4-level accounting professional with strong technical accounting experience
• Experience supporting month-end and quarter-end close in a public company or similarly complex environment
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate and explain account fluctuations
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate financial results and analyses
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional partners

This contractor will serve as an embedded member of the Accounting team and will play a key role in maintaining business continuity during an important transition period while providing flexibility to support broader Accounting priorities as needed.

Hours and Location:

• M-F, 40 hours/week
• 100% remote - EST hours
