We are seeking an Accounting Operations Specialist on a contract basis to support our Customer’s business needs. This role is hybrid (3 days onsite and 2 days remote/week) in Urbandale, IA.



Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting processes and systems, ensuring accurate processing, recording, and reporting of financial data
  • Maintain ownership of financial reporting accuracy and integrity
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, including SOX requirements and external audit procedures
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to accounting principles, policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Review, approve, and occasionally prepare ad hoc financial analyses using operational and financial data
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering a positive team culture and engagement
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support business operations and financial initiatives
  • Serve as a consultant to management and controllers on financial processes, planning, and performance
  • Identify and drive process improvements, operational efficiencies, and implementation of new technologies
  • Lead and support projects from concept through execution, ensuring alignment and timely delivery


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across multiple teams
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to drive execution, manage priorities, and lead through influence

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with and leading teams across multiple locations
  • Proven ability to manage complex business processes, resolve conflicts, and deliver results on time
  • Experience driving cross-functional collaboration and process improvements
