Job description

BACKGROUND

Four Corners Global Consulting Group, LLC is a women- and queer-owned social impact consulting practice, firmly rooted in equity and rights-based principles and with a specialized approach to amplifying social change. We work at the nexus of evaluation and strategy, providing holistic and comprehensive services to nonprofit organizations, academic institutions, and philanthropies. Four Corners is a small-but-mighty team that has worked together across a wide range of geographic, cultural, and organizational settings. As a result, we trust each other and enjoy working in partnership. We’re especially proud of the unique blend of passion, humor, and humility embodied by our team and are eager to expand our team with someone who shares our commitment to social justice, our dedication to learning, and our practice of deep collaboration. Ultimately, we know that social justice work requires tenacity, dedication, and hard work, and we seek someone who is intentional about making the journey meaningful and fun!

ABOUT THE JOB

Four Corners is seeking a high-performing, detail-oriented, resourceful individual who is passionate about using their administration and operations acumen to advance social impact work. We are looking for an experienced and flexible professional with superb project management skills, a background in operations, finance, and/or HR, an ability to both self-direct and work as a member of a small team, and an eagerness to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks. Our hope is that this person will make a long-term commitment to working with Four Corners. This role is suitable for a mid-level professional with 7-10 years of experience. The person in this position will work closely with all Four Corners team members and will report to one of the firm’s Co-Founders and Principals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities outlined below represent the Manager’s primary functions but this is not meant to be an exhaustive list. As a small and nimble team, we regularly demonstrate flexibility and support one another in advancing the firm’s priorities based on our bandwidth, capacity, strengths, and interests. Additional tasks relevant to this position may be assigned in coordination and collaboration with the hired contractor.

Financial & Accounting Operations

  • Maintain accurate financial records, categorize expenses, and conduct monthly account reconciliations; manage day-to-day financial administration.
  • Prepare and issue invoices, track payments, and coordinate with leadership to close books annually.
  • Support quarterly tax payments and coordinate with external accountants. Manage and close tax accounts as necessary in the states in which Four Corners employees reside.
  • Process payroll and contractor payments and maintain employee records.
  • Administer benefits, manage compliance documentation, and issue annual W-2 and 1099 forms.
  • Work with leadership to track and update monthly, quarterly, and annual cash flow projections.
  • Work with leadership to maintain and update an organizational budget and budget projections.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Track and maintain required employee trainings and handbook updates.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment and tax regulations.
  • Manage business registrations, insurance policies, and required filings and audits.
  • Oversee the firm’s IT security and data privacy practices and protocols.
  • Maintain and update employee handbook content to remain compliant with federal and state regulations.
  • Track and ensure completion of required employee trainings.
  • Manage annual workers’ compensation audits and insurance renewals.
  • Maintain appropriate business insurance coverage and ensure timely premium payments.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with multi-state employment and payroll requirements.

Operations & Administrative Support

  • Manage mail forwarding services.
  • Manage shared calendars, staff time-off tracking, and internal meeting coordination.
  • Oversee records management, mail handling, and basic IT and equipment administration.
  • Support leadership with general administrative and operational tasks as needed, including travel arrangements and occasional staff retreat logistics.
  • Participate in weekly Four Corners meetings and provide regular updates to Four Corners leadership.
  • Build strong working relationships with team members, establishing a role as a trusted partner.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

  • At least 7 years' experience in operations, administration, office management, or a similar role in a small business, consulting firm, or nonprofit environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing financial administrative tasks such as invoicing, expense tracking, account reconciliations, and tax payments.
  • Experience administering payroll and contractor payments using platforms such as Gusto.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of professionalism.
  • Exceptional level of integrity and discretion, and ability to manage sensitive information.
  • Proficiency with common business tools, including:
    • Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Drive)
    • Accounting software (e.g., Zoho Books, Quickbooks, etc…)
    • Video conferencing and scheduling tools (e.g., Calendly)
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • A deep commitment to excellence and learning.
  • Self-motivated, driven, flexible, and resourceful.
  • Empathetic, self-aware, and highly communicative.
  • Exercises good judgment and contributes to a positive team environment.
  • Familiarity with social impact work and programming.
  • Interest in making a long-term commitment to working with Four Corners.

WHY YOU WANT TO WORK AT FOUR CORNERS

  • Working for social change is in your DNA
  • You want to work with people who care about you as a whole person as much as they care about your work product
  • You thrive in collaborative, remote first environments
  • The opportunity to support a small team, sharpen your skills, and expand your responsibilities over time sounds appealing

POSITION DETAILS

This is a part-time (16 hours/week) contracted position (although hours might fluctuate and increase over time depending on demand). The salary range for this role is $40-50/hour, commensurate with past experience. While contractors are not eligible for other benefits (vacation time, sick time, parental leave, etc.), Four Corners is committed to maintaining a flexible, trust-based, and family-friendly work environment. The Manager will therefore have significant autonomy over their schedule, outside of mandated meetings and obligations.

Building a more just and equitable world is central to our mission, and as our team expands, we are committed to representing diverse identities, backgrounds, and perspectives. We strongly encourage people of color, people with disabilities, people from working class backgrounds, women, immigrants, and LGBTQ individuals to apply.

LOCATION

This position is fully remote, however there may be in-person meetings scheduled from time to time. Since Four Corners is headquartered in Chicago, for the purposes of team building and team cohesion, applicants from the Chicagoland area may be prioritized but that should not discourage exceptional candidates from elsewhere from applying!

All applicants applying for U.S. job openings must be legally authorized to work in the United States and are required to have U.S. residency at the time of application.

If you are a person with a disability needing assistance with the application, or at any point in the hiring process, please contact us at support@themomproject.com.

Screening Questions

  • What is your experience in an administrative, operations, and/or finance role? Please specify which tools and software you've previously used (e.g., Zoho, Gusto, Calendly, QuickBooks, etc.).
  • What excites you about working for a small social impact consulting firm?
  • We are looking for someone to make a long-term commitment to the firm. How does taking on a part-time contractual role (with potential room for growth) align with your professional goals?
