Job description
Our customer is a large United States insurance company that is backed by more than 100 years of experience and provides insurance products and services for businesses and professionals in the United States., Canada and Europe. Headquartered in Chicago, IL, they have more than 20 US locations.
Our Customer is seeking a contract Agile Scrum Master Consultant to support their ongoing business needs. This role is hybrid (2 days on-site and 3 days remote) in Chicago, IL.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and support multiple Agile Scrum teams delivering enterprise technology and business solutions
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, backlog refinement, and cross-team coordination
- Drive successful product delivery by removing impediments and optimizing team delivery flow
- Identify, manage, and escalate project risks, issues, and delivery blockers
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement through retrospectives and Agile best practices
- Coach Scrum teams on Agile principles, Scrum practices, and team maturity
- Monitor team health, delivery metrics, and project progress
- Support Product Owners with backlog management, prioritization, and Agile metrics
- Serve as an Agile subject matter expert, mentor, and coach for Scrum Masters and delivery teams
- Contribute to Agile Center of Excellence (CoE) and Communities of Practice (CoPs) by recommending process improvements and new Agile practices
- Build strong relationships with Product Owners, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
- Facilitate conflict resolution and promote collaboration across teams
- Promote quality-focused delivery practices and maintain transparency around delivery progress, quality, and schedules
- Leverage AI-enabled Agile tools to improve team productivity, planning, reporting, and delivery effectiveness
- Interpret AI-generated delivery insights to support data-driven decision-making
- Guide teams through the adoption of AI-driven Agile practices and tools
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or in Agile project delivery within an enterprise IT environment
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification
- Previous project management experience
- Proficiency with Jira and Jira Align
- Additional Agile, project management, or related professional certifications
- Experience leading multiple Agile Scrum teams delivering enterprise software solutions
- Strong knowledge of Scrum, Agile methodologies, and Agile delivery best practices
- Experience serving as a servant leader with strong coaching and mentoring skills
- Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies and managing Agile delivery metrics
- Experience supporting Product Owners with backlog management and prioritization
- Experience using Jira Align to manage program backlogs, Agile Release Trains (ARTs), dependencies, dashboards, OKRs, and Lean metrics
- Knowledge of application development best practices, including CI/CD pipelines and automation
- Understanding of AI and machine learning concepts within Agile delivery environments
- Experience using AI-enabled productivity tools such as Jira Automation, Rovo, GitHub Copilot, Lucid AI, or Microsoft Copilot
- Ability to interpret AI-generated insights such as velocity trends, risk indicators, and team analytics
- Experience coaching teams through AI adoption, change management, and continuous improvement
- Excellent communication, facilitation, organizational, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and collaboration skills
