Job description
Our Customer is a Silicon Valley-based company that is engaged in researching emerging technologies.
We are seeking a contract Android Engineer to help support our Customer's business needs. This role is on-site in Mountain View, CA.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain internal Android apps for demos and AI research testing.
- Rapidly prototype and polish app features for internal stakeholders and leadership demos.
- Collaborate closely with researchers, engineers, and UI designers across teams and time zones.
- Integrate AI models (e.g., LLMs, embeddings) into Android apps—on-device or via APIs.
- [Preferred] Interpret and port research logic (often in Python) into performant Kotlin/Java Android code.
- Participate in agile team meetings, adapting to evolving project goals and timelines.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of recent Android development experience.
- Strong command of Kotlin; working knowledge of Java.
- [Preferred] Experience with Jetpack Compose and architectural patterns like MVVM or MVI.
- Ability to deliver polished, demo-ready Android applications independently.
- Quick learning ability to adopt new libraries, tools, or SDKs (e.g., vector databases).
- [Preferred] Experience or understanding of AI model integration (e.g., LLMs, embeddings, ChatGPT API).
- [Preferred] Ability to read and adapt Python code for Android use.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in a cross-functional, research-heavy environment.
- Comfortable working with ambiguity, minimal supervision, and iterative workflows.
