Job description

Job Title: Home Inspector Apprentice

Job Summary: We are seeking an apprentice to work alongside our experienced home inspectors to learn the trade and gain the necessary experience to become a licensed home inspector. This will lead being and employee with a 2-3 year commitment. One must crawl under houses, stand on two story roofs and work in all conditions (rain, snow; below freezing temps, hot attics of 140+ degrees etc.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the home inspector in conducting inspections of residential properties, including examining the physical condition of the property, identifying defects and deficiencies, and providing recommendations for repair and maintenance.
  2. Learn to identify building materials, mechanical systems, and other components of a home, and understand their function and importance in the overall condition of the property.
  3. Develop knowledge of local and national building codes and regulations, and how they relate to the inspection process.
  4. Develop the ability to communicate effectively with clients, real estate agents, both verbally and in writing, to explain findings and recommendations in such a manner to not “kill the deal”.
  5. Assist in preparing reports and documentation for clients.
  6. Maintain accurate records of inspections and findings.
  7. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, representing the company in a positive manner at all times.
  8. Continuously learn and improve skills through on-the-job training and other educational opportunities.
  9. Marketing, networking, office duty and other assigned tasks as assigned by management.
  10. Networking events and events that are assigned (outside of inspecting) will be paid an hourly rate for these engagements.
  11. Official training/education to become a home inspector will be paid for by management for 1 year

Qualifications:

  1. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  3. Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
  4. Must be able to pass a background check.
  5. No prior experience necessary, but an interest in construction or real estate is a plus.
  6. Must be willing to commit to obtaining licensed from Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) within one year.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to climb ladders, walk on roofs, and crawl into tight spaces.
  2. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  3. Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions.
