Job description

Our Customer’s mission is to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. Through their family of apps and services, they are building a different kind of company that connects billions of people around the world, gives them ways to share what matters most to them, and helps bring people closer together.

We are seeking a Senior Art Director on a contract basis to lead the creative vision. This role will translate the brand narrative and guiding principles into a scalable, modern, and cohesive visual design system that elevates how the workforce experiences learn. This role is remote in CA, WA, NY, or TX.

**A Portfolio is required

Responsibilities:

  • Translate the future-state narrative and brand principles into a clear, actionable design direction.
  • Develop moodboards, style guides, and visual concepts that communicate tone, personality, and learner-centered intent.
  • Build a scalable visual identity system for learning (color, typography, iconography, photography, motion guidance).
  • Partner with learning designers and PMs to understand constraints (tools, authoring platforms, technical limitations).
  • Provide art direction to external vendors, reviewing creative output for consistency and quality.
  • Collaborate with the central brand/design teams to ensure alignment with corporate guidelines while maintaining RREL’s unique identity.
  • Develop documentation and templates that enable the internal team to apply the design system consistently after project hand-off.

Qualifications

  • Higher education - mostly looking for a portfolio and a principled approach rooted in design theory and design practices
  • 4+ years of experience in art direction, visual design, or brand design (agency or in-house).
  • Proven experience developing brand identity systems and applying them across multiple channels and formats.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing design work for digital experiences, ideally including learning, training, or educational content.
  • Fluency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects), and familiarity with eLearning authoring tools (Rise, Adapt, or Storyline). Experience managing and providing creative direction to vendors or junior designers.
  • Ability to ask good questions of the client and translate those answers into good design
  • Self-organized and motivated - ability to work towards deliverables with minimal supervision

Preferred:

  • Motion design experience
  • Learning design experience
  • Experience with customer education
  • Large tech brand experience
  • Iconography and illustrations experience
