Job description
Our Customer is an American worldwise clothing and accessories retailer, founded in 1969. Over the last 50 years, the company has grown from a single store to a global fashion business with seven brands. Their clothes are availabile in 90 countries worldwide through over 3,100 company-operated stores, almost 400 franchise stores, and e-commerce sites and is still growing.
We are seeking an Associate Designer - Women's Woven Tops on a contract basis to support their business needs. This role is 100% remote.
Responsibilities:
- Research global markets to identify seasonal trends, silhouettes, fabrics, techniques, product categories, and competitive inspiration
- Assist in developing concepts and sketches for seasonal product lines
- Present and advocate for design ideas to internal leadership and cross-functional partners
- Build strong working relationships with Merchandising, Production, Technical Design, Sourcing, Visual Merchandising, and Marketing
- Partner with Production to create tech packs and communicate the vision for fit and product design
- Support product execution, quality, and margin targets
- Ask effective questions and gather feedback to understand business and design needs
- Attend fit sessions and revise sketches and design packages based on established priorities
- Create presentation boards and manage administrative follow-up throughout the product design process
- Track development deadlines and manage multiple seasonal product cycles
- Translate trends through the customer and brand perspective
- Identify and address inconsistencies in data or results
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of silhouette, fit, fabrication, construction, color, sewing techniques, trims, and garment construction methods
- Elevated sense of style, aesthetic, and color
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly collaborative environment
- Ability to manage multiple seasons, priorities, and development deadlines simultaneously
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to identify and act on inconsistencies in data or results
