We are seeking an Associate Manager, Transportation on a contract basis to help support our Customer's business needs. This role is 100% remote. Reporting to the Director of Strategy & Operations, the position may require 10-20% travel, particularly near major logistics hubs.
The Associate Manager, Transportation will support the strategy, design, and optimization of the end-to-end logistics network. This role focuses on enhancing the cost efficiency, reliability, and performance of first-mile and middle-mile operations.
This role supports the Fulfillment team, which manages strategy, profitability, and operations for new verticals across the U.S., Canada, and Australia. The team operates in a high-growth, fast-paced environment, balancing innovation, quality, and efficiency to expand logistics capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Optimize network performance: Support the design and execution of transportation flows across first-mile and middle-mile operations. Contribute to routing strategies and mode selection frameworks that balance cost, speed, and service-level goals.
- Collaborate cross-functionally: Work with Product, Engineering, Analytics, Finance, and Fulfillment Operations to deploy transportation technologies (e.g., TMS, route optimization tools). Translate operational insights into product feedback for roadmap planning.
- Support network strategy execution: Analyze network performance to identify capacity constraints and efficiency opportunities. Assist with implementing new lanes, consolidation strategies, or regional nodes.
- Drive operational improvements: Use data to uncover cost drivers and service gaps. Lead portions of pilot programs and assist in rolling out processes to improve reliability and scalability.
- Contribute to carrier and mode strategy: Support selection and management of carrier partners, optimize modal strategies (air, ground, LTL, FTL, parcel), and assist with load planning to reduce costs and enhance performance.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in logistics, transportation, operations strategy, supply chain consulting, or a fast-paced tech environment.
- Proven ability to design and support transportation strategies with measurable results.
- Strong data-driven decision-making skills, with experience moving from analysis to execution.
- Excellent collaboration skills with cross-functional and executive stakeholders.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity, build strategies in new domains, and adapt quickly.
Preferred:
- Technical skills in SQL, Python, network modeling tools, or transportation management systems.
- Experience in high-growth startup environments or customer-facing roles.
