Job description

Our customer is a global provider of information-based analytics and decision tools for professional and business customers. They help researchers make new discoveries, doctors and nurses improve the lives of patients, and lawyers develop winning strategies. They prevent online fraud and money laundering and help insurance companies evaluate and predict risk. Their events combine in-person and digital experiences to help customers learn about markets, source products and complete transactions. In short, they enable customers to make better decisions, get better results and be more productive.

We are seeking an Attorney on a contract basis to help develop online legal products. This role is 100% remote.

What You'll Do:

  • Create “how-to” practice notes, forms, checklists and legal analysis on a range of topics including state, federal, and international privacy laws, U.S. sector-specific laws, cybersecurity (including data breach preparedness and response requirements), and more
  • Draft new content and supplementing existing documents with guidance based on case law, statutes, regulations, custom, and personal experience
Must-haves:
  • At least 5 years of law firm experience practicing in the data security and privacy area
  • Substantive experience in some or all of the following: Advising and representing clients on matters related to data privacy requirements, data breaches, agency enforcement actions, privacy litigation, developing compliance programs, and drafting privacy and information security policies
  • Knowledge of key data privacy laws such as the GDPR, CCPA, GLBA and HIPAA
  • Law degree from an accredited law school and active/retired bar membership and in good standing in at least one state
  • CIPP certification a plus
  • Substantive experience in some or all of the following: advising and representing clients on matters related to data privacy requirements, data breaches, agency enforcement actions, privacy litigation, developing compliance programs, and drafting privacy and information security policies
  • Knowledge of key data privacy laws such as the GDPR, CCPA, GLBA and HIPAA
  • Excellent writing, legal research, analysis and editing skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to complete projects by assigned deadlines
  • Ability to accept feedback on writing and revise accordingly
  • Organized and self-motivated
  • Comfortable working in Microsoft Word (including Track Changes) and conducting online legal research
