Job description

The Mom Project is excited to partner with our client, a leading provider of residential care services, located in Suffolk County, Long Island, NY! They are looking for an Entitlement/Benefit Specialist to establish, maintain, and monitor assigned residents' benefits, serving as an advocate and liaison with various benefit sources. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, possess excellent communication skills, and have a strong commitment to providing exceptional service to residents. Our client is willing to train the right candidate, and while previous experience in benefits administration or social services is a bonus, it is not a requirement. The ideal candidate will be local to Suffolk County.

Our client offers varied shifts and schedules within a 12-24-hour and 7-day week span, allowing for great flexibility in shift selection. Both full-time and part-time positions are available.

Core responsibilities:

  1. Establish, maintain, and monitor assigned residents' benefits
  2. Serve as an advocate/liaison for residents with the Social Security Administration, Department of Social Services, Veteran's Administration, and other applicable benefit sources
  3. Monitor Medicaid, Medicare, and Private Insurance for assigned residents
  4. Maintain Representative Payee Files and complete applicable follow-up on Physician's Authorizations
  5. Provide transportation, as needed, to appointments using personal vehicle if agency vehicle is unavailable
  6. Maintain Work Reports and report all earnings to the appropriate benefit sources monthly
  7. Monitor Bank Account balances and prepare monthly Personal Needs Allowance and Money Management Requests
  8. Participate in Resident Finance Meetings
  9. Assist with clerical duties including word processing memos, correspondence, reports, and other documents, as well as photocopying, faxing, and filing documents

Qualifications/Skills:

  1. Strong organizational and time management skills
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  4. Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to agency policies, including Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Policies, Medicaid Compliance Program and Protocols, and Justice Center Code of Conduct
  5. Must be ambulatory and present, able to perform all job functions without limitations, up to and including life preservation activities
  6. Reliable transportation and valid driver's license required
  7. Local to Suffolk County, Long Island, NY
  8. Previous experience in benefits administration or social services is a plus, but not required as our client is willing to train the right candidate
