We are seeking a Brand Strategist on a contract basis to support the development of brand marketing activations across the company on behalf of the company's brand, as well as developing the overarching company's brand architecture, positioning, and naming models. This opportunity sits at the heart of major marketing initiatives driving the value of the company today and in the future. The role is 100% remote to these locations: Baltimore, MD, Boston, MA, Houston, TX, Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco, CA.
What You’ll Do:
- Integrated marketing strategy:
- Drive and apply strategy across diverse, concurrent campaigns and partnerships
- Capture and bring to life the insights and opportunities that will inform creative briefs and comms strategy
- Deliver creative briefings, collaborating with and supporting creative teams throughout the process
- Partner with creative and design to drive the integration of a holistic strategy
- Bring the brand and visual identity lens to the creative, and ensure the team is applying the company's identity system
- Collaborate with the internal insights and decision science teams and external partners to design and analyze research and measurement
- Brand systems support:
- Act as a key strategist to review creative work from other teams across the company
- Identify and drive opportunities to extend outbound campaign thinking into strategic systems or guidance for others to leverage
Must-Haves:
- 10+ Years as a brand strategist at a brand-side company or advertising/brand agency
- Experience collaborating with dynamic and matrixed organizations
- Experience writing creative briefs, building integrated marketing campaigns, and partnering with creative agencies and partners
- Experience building research plans and partnering with insights
- Analytical/data-driven experience
- Comfortable presenting to executive and senior leadership
- Thrive in a self-starter, fast-paced, and changing environment
- Experience building, implementing, and optimizing brand foundations
- Integrated marketing strategy (developing and writing integrated creative briefs) required
- Creative strategy fluency (experience with external creative agency management, creative directors/ECDs/CCOs) required
- Brand systems support (positioning, identity, architecture, etc.) required
- Experience influencing cross-functional teams in matrixed organizations
- Proficiency in social, content, and communications strategy
- Proficiency in campaign measurement and data (insights and decision science)
- Experience working with a portfolio of brands preferred
- Experience working with product teams preferred
- Experience developing and rolling out cross-org strategies for brand implementation and/or governance preferred
- Ability to energize and direct cross-functional teams to solve complex problems
- Strong background in developing cogent, creative, and insights-driven brand strategies
- Ability to solve problems, collaborate, and drive cross-org alignment on some of the most timely and high-priority brand initiatives
- Highly skilled communicator with a proven ability to ask and answer difficult questions, form quick (but sound) perspectives, advise senior stakeholders, and be a true partner to creative teams
- Hybrid thinker: equal parts analytical acumen and creative fluency
- Ability to look beyond individual brands and teams to optimize for a system vs. just a brand
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree is preferred
Hours & Location:
- M-F, 40 hours/week. This role will be 100% remote.
