Job description

Our customer is a large United States insurance company that is backed by more than 100 years of experience and provides insurance products and services for businesses and professionals in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Headquartered in Chicago, IL, they have more than 20 US locations.


We are seeking a Business Analysis Specialist on a contract basis to support their business needs. This role is hybrid (2 days on-site and 3 days remote/week) in Chicago, IL.



Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to plan and conduct working sessions to elicit, analyze, and validate business requirements
  • Own and manage the Agile Program Vision, backlog, and Program Increment (PI) roadmap in partnership with ART teams
  • Define and document requirements, acceptance criteria, and supporting materials using tools such as Confluence (e.g., use cases, process flows, business rules, UI mockups)
  • Continuously communicate requirements and priorities to ART leaders and delivery teams
  • Manage and maintain requirements within tools such as Jira, including backlog refinement and prioritization
  • Support system test planning by defining test conditions, scripts, validation criteria, and expected results
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure solutions meet both business and non-functional requirements
  • Conduct research to understand business problems and identify innovative, cost-effective solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure successful delivery
  • Ensure alignment between business needs, technical solutions, and Agile delivery practices


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years of experience in business analysis or related roles
  • Required: Experience in Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance
  • Required: Functional BA experience with claim applications
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Experience managing backlogs, writing user stories, and defining acceptance criteria
  • Proficiency with tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with business and IT stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and in team environments
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and related business tools
  • Understanding of system integrations, interface design, and vendor collaboration

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with claim legal operations or workflow processes
  • Background in commercial insurance claims or legal operations
