Job description

Our customer is a large United States insurance company that is backed by more than 100 years of experience and provides insurance products and services for businesses and professionals in the United States., Canada and Europe. Headquartered in Chicago, IL, they have more than 20 US locations.


We are seeking a contract Business Analysis Specialist to support our Customer's business needs. This role is hybrid (3 days remote and 2 days on-site/week) in Chicago, IL.


The Business Analyst collaborates with stakeholders and Agile Release Train (ART) teams to gather, refine, and document business requirements for system enhancements and projects. This role supports Agile program visioning, backlog management, PI roadmap development, and requirement documentation using tools such as Confluence and Jira. The position plays an essential role in ensuring business needs are clearly articulated, validated, and translated into actionable requirements for technical teams.



Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to plan and conduct working sessions to elicit, clarify, and review business requirements.
  • Work closely with ART teams to define and own the Agile program vision, backlog, and Program Increment (PI) roadmap.
  • Communicate requirements and acceptance criteria to ART leadership and team members.
  • Document requirements using Confluence or similar tools, including use cases, process flows, business rules, and UI mockups.
  • Support system test planning by ensuring test conditions, scripts, validation criteria, and expected results accurately reflect business and non-functional requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure detailed designs meet both business and technical requirements.
  • Manage the end-to-end requirements process using tools such as Jira.
  • Conduct research to fully understand business issues, evaluate solution options, and support the development of innovative, cost-effective solutions.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in business analysis or related fields, such as commercial insurance claims, legal operations, or system requirement documentation.
  • Strong understanding of the property and casualty (P&C) insurance industry, products, operations, and practices.
  • Broad knowledge of the system development lifecycle, Agile methodologies, and technology alternatives.
  • Understanding of interface design and external vendor integrations.
  • Experience working with legal matter workflows and lifecycle management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey business requirements and support backlog maintenance and refinement.
  • Strong interpersonal and client-facing skills; able to work effectively with business and IT stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Advanced computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related systems.
