We are a $600 million private equity firm headquartered in New York City specializing in lower and middle market private equity co-investments and direct investments. We are unique in the industry as a minority-owned firm focused on supporting minority- and/or women-led firms and companies. We have made over 30 investments in sectors ranging from middle market software, niche industrial companies and business services.
Role & Responsibilities
The firm seeks a Business Development Manager whose main responsibilities will be assisting in i) sourcing new investments consistent with our investment philosophy and ii) raising co-investment capital alongside our committed investment vehicles.
Specifically, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for the following:
Deal Sourcing
- Working with partners to identify attractive sectors and regions in which to invest
- Developing and maintaining relationships with investment banks and regional and local brokers
- Attending industry and/or networking conferences to source pipeline of new opportunities
- Maintaining pipeline database using internal CRM for deals and Trello for intermediary contacts
- Using LinkedIn platform to identify operating executive partners and acquisition targets
Capital Raising
- Presenting new investment opportunities to network of investor relationships
- Cultivating relationships with placement agents and other intermediaries to expand investor access
- Broadening direct relationships with foundations, endowments and family offices
- Providing regular updates and reports on company deal activity and progress
Experience and Skills Desired
The ideal candidate would have the following work experience:
- Prior experience at placement agent firm or in a fundraising/investor relations role at a private equity fund
- Prior experience in business development/deal sourcing at a private equity firm
The ideal candidate would have the following:
- Strong interpersonal communication style (both written and oral)
- Existing relationships with placement agents and investors
- Strong networking capabilities
- Ability to work independently
- Effective time management and organizational skills
