JOB DESCRIPTION
We are hiring a Business Development Manager (IC) to drive new business growth and own revenue generation by identifying and engaging decision-makers responsible for community impact, strategic partnerships, and workforce development initiatives.
This is a senior individual contributor role with ownership of territory strategy, pipeline generation, sales execution, and revenue outcomes. You will be responsible for developing your territory and creating your pipeline through a combination of outbound prospecting, referrals, partnerships, networking, and other business development strategies. You will manage opportunities from initial conversation through signed contract and work closely with Educational Services and Business Operations to ensure successful handoffs.

- Proactive and self-directed, someone who knows how to create opportunities rather than wait for them.
- Comfortable developing relationships with senior decision-makers, navigating complex buying processes, and moving opportunities forward with persistence and good judgment.
- Someone who can balance strategic relationship building with the day-to-day discipline required to consistently prospect, follow up, maintain the CRM, and close business.
- Passionate about education and excited about selling something that has a meaningful purpose.
- Someone who takes ownership of their results and driven toward measurable revenue goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own and execute a territory strategy aligned with ICP, offerings, and revenue goals.
- Research target organizations, markets, and emerging opportunities to identify potential areas for growth.
- Build and maintain a 3x qualified pipeline against assigned revenue targets.
- Generate consistent net-new opportunities through outbound prospecting, referrals, networking, partnerships, events, and other business development channels.
- Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting and discovery through proposal, and close.
- Conduct discovery conversations to understand client goals, challenges, budgets, decision-making processes, and desired outcomes.
- Develop and deliver compelling proposals.
- Effectively communicate value proposition and connect solutions to client priorities.
- Develop relationships that support repeat business, referrals, partnerships, and long-term growth.
- Consistently achieve or exceed agreed-upon quarterly and annual revenue targets.
- Maintain accurate forecasting, pipeline hygiene, and activity tracking in CRM (Monday.com)
- Represent company professionally at conferences, events, and networking opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams on complex or strategic opportunities.
- Ensure effective handoff of closed deals to Educational Services and Business Operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of progressive B2B sales or business development experience
- Demonstrated success consistently achieving or exceeding revenue targets.
- Proven experience generating self-sourced net-new business (outbound, referrals, partnerships)
- Experience selling to corporate executives, public agencies, mission-driven organizations,or other complex buying organizations.
- Strong territory planning, account prioritization, prospecting, and pipeline management skills
- Comfort managing long, multi-stakeholder buying processes

- Strong CRM skills and disciplined pipeline management (Monday.com a plus)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong presentation, discovery, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote, high-autonomy environment.
- B2B education, workforce development, energy, STEM, CSR, or community impact experience preferred.
- Experience in the energy sector is a plus
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
