Job description
A partner of The Mom Project in the automotive industry is seeking a contract Business Development Representative to help support their business needs. This role is budgeted for 12 months.
This customer-facing role is responsible for supporting customers through utility program enrollment and the incentive claims process. In this role, you will help identify program eligibility, guide customers through required steps, maintain accurate records, and move qualified customers through the incentive claims pipeline before handing them off to Home Energy Consultants (HECs). Preference is for candidates to be in Northern California.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys customer outreach, process coordination, and helping customers navigate complex programs with clarity and confidence, while also supporting opportunities to represent our client at in-person dealer and brand events.
Responsibilities:
- Contact customers to introduce an energy program support and explain available utility incentive opportunities.
- Assess customer eligibility and guide customers through enrollment steps, required forms, and documentation needed to advance through the claims and incentive pipeline.
- Move customers through the incentive process in a timely and accurate manner, qualifying eligible opportunities and transitioning them to Home Energy Consultants for deeper consultation and conversion.
- Maintain accurate notes, status updates, and next steps in CRM and related internal systems while coordinating with internal sales, operations, and program support teams to resolve customer questions and process blockers.
- Deliver a high-quality customer experience by communicating clearly, professionally, and with urgency.
- Stay current on utility program requirements, incentive structures, and process updates.
- Support opportunities to represent our client at in-person dealer and brand events as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build rapport quickly and communicate clearly with customers over phone, email, and text.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a process-driven environment.
- Ability to manage a high volume of customer follow-up activities while maintaining accuracy.
- Comfort working with structured workflows, eligibility criteria, and status tracking tools.
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude and strong ownership mindset.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn CRM and workflow systems quickly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in customer support, inside sales, appointment setting, program enrollment, claims processing, or call-center operations.
- Familiarity with utility programs, rebates, incentives, residential energy products, or home electrification.
- Experience documenting customer interactions and pipeline stages in CRM systems.
- Experience working across handoff points between sales and operations teams.
Educational Background: High school diploma or GED preferred.

Experience:
- 2-4 years customer service related experience required.
- Looking for candidates with experience in customer success, sales support, administrative support, or other customer-facing roles.
- Strong customer interaction experience is preferred, including building relationships, resolving inquiries, and providing ongoing support throughout the customer journey.
- Would like to see a background in customer success, sales, account support, or administrative roles that involve regular engagement with customers and stakeholders.
- Ideal candidates will have experience working directly with customers, managing communications, and supporting business objectives in a customer-focused environment.
Adaptability: Adapts to changing priorities, manages competing deadlines, and maintains strong ownership, attention to detail, and data accuracy. Balances operational responsiveness with strategic thinking, identifies risks early, and drives timely resolution.
Hours and Location:
- M-F, 40 hours/week
- Fully remote; Preferred candidates in Northern California
- Need to support PST hours
