Job description

Our Customer is a leading global, diversified information, services and media company with more than 360 businesses. Its major interests include various financial services, medical information and services businesses, and lastly, ownership in cable television networks such as A&E, HISTORY, Lifetime and ESPN; 33 television stations; 24 daily and 52 weekly newspapers; digital services businesses; and nearly 250 magazines around the world.

Our Customer is seeking a Business Intelligence Developer on a contract basis to help support their business needs. This role is onsite in Troy, MI.

As a BI Developer, you will play a critical role in the Insights team, working to transform data into actionable insights, developing visual dashboards and driving informed decision-making across the organization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain Business Intelligence solutions that support data-driven initiatives and contribute to the success of the company.


Responsibilities:

  • Data Integration: Collaborate with data engineers to acquire, clean, and integrate data from various sources into BI platforms.
  • Report and Dashboard Development: Create interactive and visually appealing reports and dashboards using BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to provide valuable insights to stakeholders.
  • Data Modeling: Design and maintain data models, ensuring data accuracy and consistency for reporting and analytics.
  • Performance Optimization: Identify and implement performance improvements in BI solutions to enhance speed and efficiency.
  • Data Visualization: Develop intuitive data visualizations that effectively communicate complex information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Data Scientists and Analysts to understand their requirements and provide the necessary data infrastructure and tools.
  • Documentation: Document data sources, processes, and solutions to ensure knowledge sharing and maintainable systems.
  • Data Security and Compliance: Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR).
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to end-users, empowering them to utilize BI tools effectively.

Must-haves:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum 5+ years of proven experience as a BI Developer or in a similar role.
  • Working experience on Tableau at least for 3+ years
  • Tableau Desktop Specialist certification.
  • Proficiency in BI tools such as Power BI, or similar.
  • Can handle Data modelling and querying per the requirements.
  • Strong SQL skills for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes. (AWS preferred)
  • Excellent communication, strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Knowledge of automotive industry data is a plus.
