Our Customer is a corporation that develops, manufactures, and markets robotic products designed to improve clinical outcomes of patients through minimally invasive surgery. Founded in 1995, their goal was to create innovative, robotic-assisted systems that help empower doctors and hospitals to make surgery less invasive than an open approach. Working with the top medical professionals, they continue to develop new, minimally invasive surgical platforms and future diagnostic tools to help solve complex healthcare challenges around the world.
We are seeking a Manufacturing Purchasing Buyer on a contract basis to support our Customer's business needs. This role is on-site in Gilroy or Sunnyvale, CA.
Responsibilities:
- Manage procurement of direct materials to support production and business requirements
- Administer and manage purchase orders and supplier delivery commitments
- Review, interpret, and communicate material demand forecasts and manage capacity planning for assigned suppliers and commodity groups
- Support alignment of supplier requirements and sourcing strategies with new product introduction (NPI) activities
- Monitor supplier performance and support supplier business reviews
- Apply lean sourcing principles, including Kanban, consignment, and material pull systems, to optimize inventory and ensure material availability
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to achieve purchasing and supply chain performance metrics
- Identify supply chain issues and recommend solutions
- Coordinate engineering change order activities with suppliers and cross-functional teams
- Coordinate supplier price changes related to cost reduction initiatives, volume pricing, or supplier requests
- Support commodity team initiatives focused on risk mitigation, cost reduction, and other procurement projects
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 3+ years of purchasing experience in a regulated manufacturing environment
- Experience with Microsoft Office and ERP systems, preferably SAP and Agile
- Working knowledge of purchasing, material planning, master scheduling, and forecasting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- English proficiency (90%)
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the medical device industry
