Job description

Our customer is a leading global media and entertainment company that creates and distributes a large portfolio of content and brands across television, film, and streaming and is available in over 200 countries and territories and over 45 languages. Headquartered in New York, NY with more than 30 office locations in the United States.


We are seeking a Category Manager on a contract basis to support their business needs. This role is hybrid (3 days on-site and 2 days remote/week) in Burbank, CA.



Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned toy product categories, including Activities, STEM/STEAM, and amusement toys
  • Identify and evaluate licensing opportunities and execute long-term new business initiatives
  • Negotiate and define key deal terms for new, renewed, amended, and extended licensing agreements
  • Assist in developing and executing medium- and long-term category strategies
  • Own annual initiatives, revenue plans, and execution for assigned product categories
  • Plan and monitor quarterly forecasts and annual budgets for assigned categories
  • Build and manage licensee relationships in partnership with Product Development teams
  • Partner with Licensees, Franchise, Creative, and Retail Business Development teams to drive strategic initiatives
  • Participate in business reviews, presentations, and strategic planning discussions
  • Partner with Insights teams to identify and apply competitive intelligence, industry trends, and market insights


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience negotiating deal terms and analyzing contracts
  • 5+ years of experience managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • 5+ years of experience using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including data analysis and presentation development
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Strong contract analysis and negotiation skills
  • Ability to interpret data and present business insights
  • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in consumer products or manufacturing
