About Us

We are a boutique investment management firm specializing in personalized investment strategies and wealth management solutions. With a longstanding commitment to exceptional client service, we are expanding our capabilities into comprehensive financial planning.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and empathetic Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) to build and lead our financial planning practice. This role is a unique opportunity to design a jaw-dropping client experience across the full financial life cycle—from graduation to retirement, and through life events such as career transitions, marriage, parenting, divorce, and the loss of a spouse or parent. The position begins as a flexible, part-time contractor role (approximately half- time) with the expectation of working in-office one day per week. As the practice grows and the role transitions into a full-time W-2 position (target salary ~$100,000), the in-office requirement will increase to two days per week to support collaboration, client meetings, and team integration. This structure offers meaningful flexibility while ensuring consistent, high-quality client experience and integration with the investment management team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive financial planning and client experience strategy tailored to key life stages and major events.
  • Create personalized and actionable financial plans, delivering ongoing guidance and annual check-ins.
  • Serve as the primary advisor and trusted partner for clients navigating significant financial decisions.
  • Deliver engaging educational presentations to groups of prospective clients.
  • Lead business development initiatives that expand our planning client base and promote the firm’s capabilities.
  • Mentor and support internal team members pursuing their CFP® designation.
  • Maintain a consistent in-office presence at least one day per week (two days when full-time) to collaborate with the team and participate in on-site client engagements.

Qualifications

  • CFP® certification required.
  • Previous experience in financial planning or wealth management.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to build deep, lasting client relationships.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with demonstrated ability to generate new business.
  • Located in or near Chicago, IL, with ability to commute once weekly (twice when full-time).

Compensation & Benefits (Full-Time W-2 Role)

When the role transitions to full-time employment, you will receive:

  • Approx. $100,000 annual salary
  • Health insurance
  • 401(k) participation
  • Eligibility for discretionary profit sharing
  • Paid time off
  • Support for continuing education, licensing, and professional development
  • Career path to expanded responsibility as the planning practice grows

Why This Role Is Ideal

This position is particularly well-suited for planners seeking meaningful, flexible work—including working mothers and those returning to the workforce. You will have the opportunity to build a new planning practice, influence the firm’s direction, collaborate closely with investment professionals, and make a lasting impact on families’ financial lives.
