Certified Medical Assistant
Overview of the Role:
We are currently recruiting a Medical Assistant to join our gynecologic practice in Annapolis. We provide minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, manage complex gynecologic conditions, persistent pain disorders, and well woman care. The successful candidate will be a certified medical assistant with at LEAST 3 years of experience in the back office, and 3 years experience in a Gynecology setting. The candidate should be pleasant, respectful, punctual and have good computer skills. The candidate must be able to consistently be at work during normal business hours of the practice. Experience with Athena medical record elevates the candidate. We are looking for a candidate that has the ability to be proficient in both Front office and Back office environment to cross cover with our existing medical assistant.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Medical Assistant Training and Certification
· Minimum of Three years’ experience as a medical assistant in the Back office
-Some experience in an OB/Gyn setting
· Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures and diagnosis
· Desire someone experienced in the Athena electronic medical record
· Must have excellent computer skills
· Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task, prioritize work, and problem solve
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Strong organizational and planning skills
· Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software
Primary Job Duties
· Verify patient information by interviewing patients; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit
· Prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary
· Answering questions on the phone or through the patient portal; and participate in monitoring the clinical inbox
· Ensure availability of treatment information by updating patient records
· Review patient schedules in advance to identify patients undergoing procedures to ensure necessary supplies are available
· Keep inventory and equipment stocked by placing orders and verifying receipt
· Protect patient rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information
· Maintain operations by following policies and procedures and reporting needed changes
· Enhance practice reputation by ensuring each patient has an excellent experience
· Contribute to team effort with other duties as assigned
· Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures
· Serve and protect the practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements
Secondary Job Duties
· Welcome patients and visitors and assist with any questions either in person or over the phone
· Maintain the clinician schedule, scheduling appointments, appointment reminders, Managing faxes, returning phone calls, managing forms, scanning documents into the medical record
· Optimize patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone
· Comfort patients by anticipating anxieties, answering questions and maintaining the reception area
· Maintain patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information
· Obtain revenue by recording and updating financial information; recording and collecting patient
· Check Insurance eligibility and benefits for each patient

Work Environment:
· General office environment is a clinical setting
· Maybe exposed to moderate levels of noise in a moderately to fast paced environment
· No nights, No weekends.
· Works with other team members or departments to deliver optimal service and meet practice goals
