Job description
Our Customer is an American financial services mutual organization based in Milwaukee. The financial security company provides consultation on wealth and asset income protection, education planning, retirement planning, investment advisory services, financial planning trust and private client services, estate planning and business planning. Its products include life insurance, permanent life insurance, disability income, and long-term care insurance; annuities; investments; and investment advisory products and services.
Our customer is looking for a Communications Consultant on a contract basis to help support their ongoing business needs. This role is 100% remote.
The Communications Consultant is a self-motivated, business-minded communicator who leads planning and execution of communications to support the company's Advancing Advisor Practices (AAP) multi-year strategic initiative with the launch and ongoing operations of program initiatives. In this role, they will work with the Practice Management team and key business partners to develop and execute communications plans, content management, and event coordination. Strong communication skills (writing, speaking, listening, influencing) is a requirement, with the ability to influence without authority, manage through ambiguity and establish relationships; proven decision-making and problem-solving skills is critical. They should have strong digital savvy and work in close collaboration with the Practice Management team, internal business partners, and subject matter experts to deliver content across various audiences. Ability to expertly lead complex programs, matrixed strategies, and significant workload.
What You'll Do:
- Work with Practice Management team, internal business partners, change management, strategic communications, and learning team to develop and execute communications plans to support change plans for initiative rollouts
- Write and distribute communications to support ongoing operational work including development and updates to email communications, program resources, PowerPoint slides, fact sheets, etc.
- Coordinate presentations at field events where AAP has a presence in collaboration with business partners, change management and strategic communications team
- Create and maintain content depository/library to serve as single source of current key messaging and content for the program initiatives
- Manage intake process to collect, track, and execute requests new or updated internal and external documents
- Create and maintain repeatable processes and tracking solutions to integrate work across all work efforts to create a holistic view of work done, work in progress, and status of the work
- Participate and present at internal meetings to inform and educate partners on communications plans and resources
Must-haves:
- At least 6 years of multifaceted experience in professional communication, change communications, organizational communication, training or related communication field
- A Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, marketing or related field
- Versatility and desire to learn about and work with a variety of complex business areas and topics
- Proactive professional who has ability to establish rapport with business partners and colleagues, provide counsel, and develop productive working relationships at all levels
- Demonstrate outstanding content development, writing and analytical skills, including experience preparing engaging, concise presentations and detailed message materials and consulting resources (key messages, talking points, guides, checklists, etc.)
- Ability to listen to, engage, and influence business partners throughout the company; synthesize and relate sophisticated information; analyze problems and opportunities; and develop and drive external communication strategies and tactics
- Excellent social skills and the ability to maintain relationships and communicate effectively by phone, email, and in-person
- Experience and motivation to work in a complex, fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet team-established timelines
