Job description
Our client is looking for a Community Manager for their 2000-person community of technology professionals and investors.
The Community Manager will act as a liaison by meeting with applicants looking to join the community, answering questions about the investor community, and ensuring the success of new community members by helping them on-board. For flexibility, this is a fully remote, hourly, contractor-based role.
The ideal candidate must be interested in startup companies, and is energized to meet with prospective community members, patient, empathetic, and communicative.
~80% of this role will be to take calls with applicants that are looking to learn more about the community; to accommodate this, the candidate should be available from 8AM-3PM (Pacific Time), Monday to Friday.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage large amounts of incoming calls
- Build trust with prospective community members by speaking about the community's core values and answering their questions
- Ensure the successful onboarding of new community members through occasional touch points
- Handle any concerns/support requests from community members in a timely manner; follow up to ensure resolution
- Keep records of interactions with community members
- Follow communication procedures, guidelines and policies
Qualifications/Skills
- Strong phone/virtual contact handling skills and active listening
- Strong interest in startup companies/venture capital
- Familiarity with database/spreadsheet platforms and practices (e.g. Google Sheets, Airtable)
- Customer orientation and ability to adapt/respond to different types of characters
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
- Prior community management experience or experience as a Client Service Representative is a plus
