We are seeking a Consumer Insights Researcher on a contract basis to support product and user experience
research efforts through well-scoped, time-bound project work. In this role, you will help design and execute
research to inform product decisions and deepen understanding of user needs. This role is remote in the Bay Area.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute qualitative and quantitative research studies using appropriate methodologies, including interviews, surveys, usability testing, product evaluations, diary studies, focus groups, and field research.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to define research objectives, project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
- Develop research plans, screeners, discussion guides, questionnaires, and other study materials.
- Design and analyze surveys using mixed-method research approaches.
- Conduct user interviews, focus groups, usability studies, and fieldwork to gather actionable insights.
- Manage third-party research vendors, including project coordination, quality oversight, and deliverable management.
- Collect, synthesize, and analyze research data to identify trends, opportunities, and recommendations.
- Translate research findings into clear, actionable insights for product, design, and business stakeholders.
- Develop reports, presentations, and executive-ready research deliverables tailored to stakeholder needs.
- Advise teams on next steps, research implications, and follow-up learning opportunities.
- Maintain research documentation, repositories, and knowledge-sharing resources.
- Utilize AI-powered research tools and efficiency platforms to improve research processes and insights generation.
- Support iterative product and customer experience improvements through ongoing research initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications:
- 8-10 years of experience in UX research, consumer research, market research, insights, or related research roles.
- Experience selecting and applying appropriate qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
- Strong mixed-method research experience with a quantitative focus.
- Expertise in survey design, survey analysis, and statistical interpretation.
- Experience conducting user interviews, focus groups, usability testing, and field research.
- Strong experience synthesizing research findings into actionable recommendations.
- Experience managing external research vendors and agency partners.
- Proficiency with AI-powered research tools and productivity platforms (e.g., Claude and similar tools).
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Experience in maintaining research documentation and knowledge repositories.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in a social sciences field or related discipline.
- Experience researching consumer electronics, hardware products, wearables, or consumer packaged goods.
- Shopper insights or retail research experience.
- Experience with tracking studies, TURF analysis, or conjoint analysis.
- Prior experience supporting large technology organizations or similar research environments.
- Experience using advanced research analytics and consumer insight methodologies.
