Job description

We are seeking a Consumer Insights Researcher on a contract basis to help support product and user experience research efforts through well-scoped, time-bound project work. In this role, you will help design and execute research to inform product decisions and deepen understanding of user needs.


This role is remote in the Bay Area.



Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute qualitative and quantitative UX research using methods such as interviews, usability testing, surveys, diary studies, product evaluations, focus groups, and field research
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to define research objectives, scope, timelines, and deliverables
  • Develop research plans, screeners, discussion guides, surveys, and other study materials
  • Conduct user interviews, usability testing, surveys, and other research activities
  • Analyze and synthesize qualitative and quantitative research data into actionable insights and recommendations
  • Present research findings through reports and stakeholder presentations
  • Advise product and design teams on next steps and future research opportunities
  • Maintain research documentation and contribute to research repositories
  • Manage external research vendors and research operations
  • Leverage AI-powered research tools to improve research efficiency and workflows


Skills and Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years of UX research experience
  • Experience selecting and applying appropriate qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
  • Experience designing surveys and conducting mixed-method research with a quantitative emphasis
  • Experience planning, moderating, and analyzing user interviews and usability studies
  • Experience conducting focus groups and field research
  • Experience synthesizing research findings into actionable recommendations for product and design teams
  • Experience managing research vendors
  • Proficiency with AI tools such as Claude and other research efficiency tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Social Sciences or a related field
  • Experience researching consumer electronics, hardware, wearables, or consumer packaged goods
  • Experience with shopper insights or retail research
  • Familiarity with tracking studies, TURF analysis, and conjoint analysis
