Are you passionate about travel and good at writing? Do you have a background in writing, journalism and hospitality? Do you love to travel in your spare time? Have you visited different countries, or have you traveled all over the United States?
If so, we'd love to hear from you. We are looking to bring on two writers, potentially 3, depending on experience.
Our site educates our audience about all things travel, both abroad and in the United States. This includes writing detailed reviews and "things to do" lists for various locations. You'll also be writing about restaurants in the area, as well as historic monuments and places to visit.
We need EXPERIENCED travelers, preferably those who have traveled extensively, both in the United States and overseas.
**You'll have a leg up on the competition if you have pictures of the locations you've visited that you write about and are willing to provide.
**Expectations for writing are a minimum of 500 words per hour once you are up to speed, so you may be asked to take a typing test to ensure you can meet our production criteria.
We are looking for writers that can write the following:
- Informational "things to do in x location" articles
- Location guides that feature a comprehensive overview of historical landmarks to visit, restaurants and outdoor activities
- Articles outlining activities during road trips from one city to another.
- List-style articles that talk about the "best beaches/lakes/rivers" in a certain location, which will often be over 3,000 words or longer.
- "Best of" guides that compare travel products, including travel bags, luggage, etc.
You must have the following:
- Passion for travel with experience.
- Prefer a degree in English, journalism, PR. Writing experience for other major travel publications is a huge plus regardless of education.
- Organized and timely to respond
- Experience in Slack is a plus, as all our communications are handled on that platform.
- Our average article length is 2,500 words, and we are looking for at least two writers that will be able to contribute at least 2 articles per week of 2,500 plus words. Some of our bigger content pieces will be 4,000 to 6,000 words. These will be assigned to our top-tier writers.
The first articles will be a trial, and we are hoping to find 1 writer that will produce roughly 30-50k words per month. When writing for our site, You'll have your own Author bio, with your picture and we will ask that we link to your social profiles (Linkedin is a must, but can do other socials if you prefer and have travel experience/photos to promote).
We are only looking for LONG-term writers, so please do not consider this opportunity for yourself if you do not want a longer term contract. This is a remote working position, with very flexible deadlines (to an extent) as long as the quality of work is good.
Listed is our starting pay, with opportunity for increases as we get comfortable with your performance.
Making sure you can meet deadlines is critical, so if you feel you can't commit to a minimum 10 hours per week and the required amount of work required for this role, please don't apply. Thank you!
