We are seeking an experienced Trusts & Estates Attorney to join our team on a contract basis.

Position Overview

We’re looking for an attorney with substantial experience advising high net worth individuals and families in all aspects of trust and estate planning, administration, and related tax matters. This role is ideal for a self-motivated lawyer who thrives in a flexible, remote, and collaborative environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and revise estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance directives.
  • Advise clients on wealth transfer strategies, charitable giving, and estate/gift tax implications.
  • Handle trust administration, probate matters, and coordination with fiduciaries, accountants, and financial advisors.
  • Provide legal analysis and strategy for complex family wealth and succession planning matters.
  • Conduct due diligence and ensure compliance with applicable estate, tax, and fiduciary laws.
  • Collaborate with firm attorneys to integrate estate planning with clients’ business and personal legal needs.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active Colorado bar membership in good standing.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience practicing in trusts and estates law, with a focus on high net worth clients.
  • Strong knowledge of estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer (GST) tax planning.
  • Exceptional drafting, analytical, and client communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.

Compensation & Structure

  • This is a contract/independent position, with flexible hours and workload.
  • Competitive hourly or project-based compensation commensurate with experience.
  • Remote work arrangement with periodic collaboration meetings.
