- In office in Laguna Beach, CA - flexible schedule
We are a boutique real estate brokerage located in Laguna Beach, CA. The company has two divisions: one focused on property management services, and one a traditional residential real estate brokerage. The vast majority of the work for this job posting will focus on the property management side of the business. The Company is responsible for managing approximately 200 properties, primarily in Laguna Beach, although the target market is coastal properties between Newport Beach and San Clemente. Including the Controller, there are currently just three full-time employees and seven independent contractors. The Company enjoys a very favorable reputation and has seen significant growth since being acquired in 2020.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION
Technical:
• Four-year degree in accounting or finance (being a CPA is a plus)
• Knowledge of major property management systems (PMS), such as AppFolio, Yardi, or Buildium, or similar systems
• Experience in property management (preferred, but may make exception)
• Quickbooks experience
Personal:
• Intelligent
• Professional appearance

• Team-oriented, openly cooperate with co-workers
• Positive, solutions-oriented mentality
• “Jack-of-all-trades” or stated differently, ability to “wear many hats” (no silos)
• Knowledge of real estate law, tenant rights (can be learned on job)
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
• Client-relations skills
TASKS TO BE PERFORMED (may be incomplete)
• Daily trust account reconciliation (~approximately 1,000 transactions/month)
• Account payables (primarily for owner properties)
• Expense/Income reporting for clients
• Rent collection (95%+ on time)
• Owner draw disbursements (monthly)
• Management fee payments
• 1099 reporting
• Billing for non-rental clients (referred to as estate management services)
• Year-end tax preparation for owners
• Miscellaneous management fee aggregation
• On-boarding and offboarding of owners and tenants
• Leveraging PMS for various tasks (applications, rent increases, listings, etc)
• Assistance with screening new tenants
ABOUT THE POSITION
This is a full-time (or almost full time), exempt, salaried position. Although it is an in-house position, with office hours of 9:00 to 5:30 and a 30-minute lunch break, there can be flexibility regarding office hours, with some tasks being able to be completed offsite. The office atmosphere is quite casual, low key and cooperative. In addition to the salary, the company offers 9+ paid holidays per year, up to 12 paid personal days (accrued one day per month after first 90 days), Friday lunches and other perks. We believe the office location, décor and vibe in the heart of Laguna Beach, just two blocks to Main Beach, is an exceptionally pleasant atmosphere.
