We are seeking a Technical Artist on a contract basis to help support our customer’s business needs. A Technical Artist is the key bridge between artists and engineers, and Creative Engineering and our customer is currently looking for a passionate team member to work closely with a multidisciplinary team to build new cutting-edge social experiences in Augmented Reality.

What You’ll Do:

  • You will be helping bring various AR experiences to current and upcoming headsets.
  • Partner closely with the engineering and design teams to develop content for current and future headsets.
  • Implement runtime logic within a complex real-time environment with performance limitations in mind.
  • Prototype, profile and optimize custom shaders.
  • Optimize content through enhancing performance and instructing the artists and designers on asset creation, modeling, and texturing best practices.
  • Triage incoming bugs for existing AR experiences, troubleshoot, and implement solutions with the partnership of the engineering team.
  • Develop broad technical expertise to assist in a wide variety of technical and artistic tasks, including diagnosing and fixing bugs.
  • Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Design, manage and maintain the pipeline from artists and designers through to deployment.

Must-Haves:

  • Experience shipping products with stringent runtime performance constraints, such as complex mobile or 3D applications or games.
  • Experience with game/real-time profiling and optimization techniques.
  • Experience with real-time scripting in a game engine, preferably Unity.
  • Experience in shader languages (GLSL, ShaderLab, HLSL).
  • Experience collaborating on multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience communicating across team members, including engineers and artists.
  • Experience in real-time content authoring (characters/environments/VFX/animation/lighting).
  • Experience working with version control systems (Git, Perforce, etc.)
  • Deep knowledge of low-level real-time graphics pipeline concepts.
  • Experience working in AR Frameworks.
  • Experience writing Javascript applications or games.
  • Being passionate and informed about emerging technologies.
  • Self-motivated, product-thinking mindset.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Hours & Location:

  • M-F, 40 hours/week. This role will be 100% remote, though candidates must be local to one of the cities noted above.
  • The salary range for this position is: $48.84 - $63.84 / hour
