Job description

We are seeking a Data Bearing Device (DBD) Security Operations Analyst on a contract basis to help support our customer’s business needs. This role is 100% remote.
Responsibilities:
- Support intake requests and operational needs related to Data Bearing Device security
- Perform device state investigations and cross-functional coordination across data center operations, logistics, and engineering teams
- Serve as part of the IDC Security & Compliance team, managing day-to-day triage and operational workflows
- Investigate device and asset histories using tracking systems, databases, and inventory tools
- Manage intake requests and prioritize concurrent operational tasks
- Coordinate across data center operations, logistics, and engineering teams
- Document findings clearly and communicate results to stakeholders
- Support the enforcement of data sanitization, destruction, and chain-of-custody policies
- Ensure operational alignment with security and compliance requirements
- Research and analyze device lifecycle events, including deployment, sanitization, destruction, and reuse
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Data Center Operations, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in data center operations, IT asset disposition, IT asset management, data security, or hardware lifecycle management
- Strong understanding of data-bearing device lifecycles
- Familiarity with sanitization methods including cryptographic erase, secure erase, overwrite, and physical destruction
- Experience with asset tracking, inventory management, and chain-of-custody systems
- Strong investigative and analytical skills
- Strong written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent requests
- Experience working in data center environments, including colocation, hyperscale, or enterprise
Compliance Knowledge (Preferred):
- Familiarity with NIST 800-88 and IEEE 2883 media sanitization standards
- Understanding of GDPR, SOX, and related data protection regulations as they apply to physical media handling
- Experience ensuring compliance with data sanitization and chain-of-custody policies
Preferred Certifications:
- CHAMP or CITAM (IAITAM)
- CISA (ISACA)
- Blancco Certified Erasure Professional
- CompTIA Security+
- CISSP
