We are seeking a Data Engineer on a contract basis to help support our Customer’s business needs. This role is a onsite in Richardson, TX.
What You'll Do:
- Prepare high-level ETL mapping specifications. Develop complex code data scripts (Primarily SQL) for ETL Troubleshoot & determine best resolution for data issues and anomalies
- Manage exploratory data analysis to support database and dashboard development, as well as advanced analytics efforts.
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications; establishing personal networks; in technical societies.
- Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Determines changes in physical database by studying project requirements; identifying database characteristics, such as location, amount of space, and access method.
- Changes database system by coding database descriptions.
- Protects database by developing access system; specifying user level of access.
- Maintains user reference by writing and rewriting database descriptions.

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Information Systems, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Top Must-Have Skills:
- Strong skills in database performance tuning and management, alongside a solid foundation in requirements analysis and software development fundamentals. Proficiency in problem-solving, documentation, and verbal communication is essential, as is expertise in data maintenance and database security. The candidate should be adept at promoting process improvement and have experience in system administration.
- Advanced SQL skills are required, including the ability to conduct complex queries, write reports, and present findings. Additionally, expertise in data analysis, data profiling, and SQL tuning, along with the ability to translate business requirements into effective project design, development, and execution, is critical.

Experience:
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience in data engineering or related fields.
- At least 3 years in an architectural or design capacity for large-scale enterprise systems.

Analytical Skills:
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and dissemination.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.

Communication Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.

Organizational Skills:
- Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Experience managing product delivery is desirable.
