Job description

A partner of The Mom Project in the automotive industry is seeking a contract Data Verifier to help support their business needs.

This role serves as one of the first live touchpoints for new hires, helping to ensure a welcoming onboarding experience while accurately completing Section 2 and supporting organizational E-Verify compliance requirements.

These individuals will be trained to virtually complete and verify Section 2 of Form I-9 for new U.S. hires by conducting employment eligibility document reviews via Microsoft Teams.

Prior I-9 experience is not required. However, candidates must be detail-oriented, comfortable conducting virtual verification processes, and capable of following established standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct scheduled video-based document verification sessions with new hires via Microsoft Teams within the required legal timeframes
  • Examine original identity and work authorization documents to confirm authenticity and proper association with the individual
  • Accurately record document details and complete Section 2 verification in HR systems such as Workday or designated I-9 platforms
  • Ensure all verifications comply with USCIS, DHS, and E-Verify requirements, including acceptable document standards and photo verification requirements
  • Follow established standard operating procedures, checklists, and quality controls to minimize errors and rework
  • Identify discrepancies or incomplete information and escalate issues according to defined workflows
  • Provide a professional and welcoming experience while clearly explaining the I-9 verification process
  • Guide new hires on required documentation, session expectations, and next steps when follow-up is necessary
  • Manage appointment schedules, reminders, and follow-ups to ensure timely verification completion
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition, People Services, and Onboarding teams to resolve questions and complex scenarios
  • Work effectively in a remote environment, managing a steady volume of appointments and system tasks
  • Meet defined SLAs, productivity, and quality performance targets
  • Protect confidential and sensitive personal information in accordance with data privacy and security standards

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes and checklists
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain policies clearly and respectfully
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Teams and virtual collaboration tools
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing time and priorities effectively
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a steady case or appointment queue
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to balance compliance and positive employee experience
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Form I-9, E-Verify, or U.S. employment eligibility verification processes
  • Familiarity with HR systems such as Workday or other HRIS platforms
  • Experience in high-volume, service-oriented environments such as shared services, call centers, or onboarding teams
  • Experience working within SLA-driven operational models

Hours and Location:

  • M-F, 40 hours/week
  • 100% remote
